The True Story Of How I broke My Arm

My dad, my friend Mia, and her brother Quinn and their dad, Mike, and I went to the playground. I did the monkey bars one time all by myself without my dad holding me. He usually holds me by my legs. I didn't know my dad saw the first time I did it. He was on the other side. He probably saw it because we were playing troll. He was walking towards Mia to get her. She was walking on the bridge. Dad was the troll. The second time I did the monkey bars, I was on the third bar and I reached for the fourth one with my right hand while my left hand stayed on the third bar. I let go of the third bar and - dropped down.

My dad was on his way to catch me, but -- to late.

I fell all the way to the ground. My dad came over and sat down on the grass. He held me. We laid back. I was kind of crying.

Quinn and Mike were playing football. They didn't see me fall. They were way out in the field.

Mia was nearby. I didn't know what she did because I was paying more attention to my arm than my surroundings.

A couple minutes went by and we went in the car and drove back to Aunt Colleen's. My dad got an ice pack for me. I had some children's Tylenol. I had some water. The ice pack stayed on there.

Then my mom came home from grocery shopping with Aunt Colleen. We went into our car. Daddy drove. My mom sat in the back seat with me. She wanted to look at my arm. At the same time, my dad looked into the rearview mirror and saw my arm. My mom said to my dad, "It's broken. We're going to the urgent care."

Then, my dadparked the care in place and, he didn't exactly faint, he blacked out. My mom was waking him up by slapping him on the face and jiggling him and calling his name.

I wasn't really scared.

My dad was shaking. He grabbed a grocery bag. My dad got out and went into the passenger side of the car in front. He rolled down the window and, just as the window got down, he threw up all over the place! The throw up went everywhere; it went on the side of my window, it went on the side of the car, it went everywhere.

We drove Daddy home. Me and my mom got out of the car and went into Daddy's fancy-smancy car and drove to the urgent care.

Ammie, my grandma, met us at the urgent care. I still had the ice on my arm. We waited and got called back into one of the rooms. They took my blood pressure, and my temperature, and checked my heart, and weighed me. Then, I sat on the examining table until the nurse brought a wheelchair. I got on the wheelchair and went to the x-ray room. They made Ammie leave and Mommy stayed. They took two x-rays of my left arm and they said it was broken. I broth both bones in my left arm!

Chapter Two

Urgent Care said they couldn't take care of my arm. We went to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. They treated me so well there. They got my height and my temperature and my weight. We went into Room Eleven. They talked a little bit about movies what I could watch on the room's tv. This probably sounds silly. I needed to go to the bathroom, but with my arm, I couldn't go into a really toilet. I went into a pink bucket that they slid under my butt. I felt awkward.

After I went to the bathroom, they gave me a soft, fluffy bunny. I named him Brownie. They showed me how they were going to do an IV stick by doing it on Brownie first. He didn't cry. Then, they did it to me. I said, 'Ouch. Ouch." I had that on my right arm. They covered my IV with a towel, two princess stickers, and a Care Bear sticker. They covered Brownie's IV with a Car sticker.

We watched 'Brave' while we waited. They did a couple more things to me. Then we watched 'Hotel Transylvania.'

when that was done, they put me to sleep. They pulled my arm and put my bones back in place. When I woke up, I had a splint on my arm. I woke up kind of sleeping and I was crying. I needed to go to the bathroom. This time, I went to a really toilet. When I came back, one of the techs who did the procedure on me had a lightish, greenish, blueish sling with pink poodle puppy dogs on it and red bows in their hair, and black dotted leashes with pretend sparkles on the outside.

We went home at midnight. My arm hurt underneath the splint. I was supposed to wiggle my fingers, and that's a good sign. I went ot bed after a snack. I had a rough night. Today, I'm feeling perfectly fine. I couldn't got o school on Monday or Tuesday, but I could go today. Except we have the day off!

Chapter Three

This is how I take my bath. You know those big plastic grocery bags (you need two). I put my arm in both bags. The bag outside protects the other bag. You take those two handles and tie them in a knot. I've a reading tray for paper or books or anything. I put my arm on that and it stays out of the water.

The End.
